President
Lisa Raffel
As President, Lisa functions as the Chief Executive Officer of Crestmont School. This includes leading and supporting the Board of Directors, so that each Board member successfully fulfills her/his role in managing the school. Lisa works together with Nicole, the Personnel Director, to oversee the staff. Lisa strives to be accessible to families of the co-op, so that their concerns are heard. This is Lisa’s 9th year at Crestmont School, and her 8th on the Board. Previously she served as Admissions Director and Membership Director.
Lisa has been a teacher and administrator for 25 years. She has taught a variety of grade levels, from 4th grade in a public school, to peace studies at the college level, to English at a high school in Ghana. As an administrator she has directed ESL, family literacy and job training programs. She has conducted research on public school reform throughout California, and trained child care providers on the importance of family-school partnerships. She holds a BA in Peace Studies, a Masters in Education, and a teaching credential, all from UC Berkeley.
