Karen Smekofske and Sue Tico
The Membership Chairs manage the administrative aspect of school business by collecting contracts and health information, tracking tuition payments, updating the Parent Handbook, and welcoming new families to the school.
Karen Smekofske is on her second board position as Membership Chair, having served on the Crestmont board years ago as Secretary. This is her family’s seventh year at Crestmont. She has a son in fourth grade, and her older son recently graduated Crestmont and now attends Manzanita Middle School. She and her husband are seeing what it is like to have children in two different co-ops! When not working at either school, Karen loves to garden, walk the family dog, and read. She has worked with children and adults in many settings — educational, recreational, mental health, and with people with developmental disabilities.
Sue Tico has a kindergartener and a third grader at Crestmont School. Sue has worked in health care for more than twenty years in a variety of roles involving research, project management, and health equity. In her spare time, she dreams about traveling the world with her family and taking afternoon naps.
